Valentine’s Day Fun in Michigan

We Love Detroit by Devo(lutio)n

In their Valentine's feature Detroit is for Lovers, Model D takes you on a sort of romantic and definitely whirlwind tour of the Motor City that takes you to the bar (then from the bar), around the city, moving in, moving out.

If you're in the Mid-Michigan area, think about stopping by the BoarsHead Theater in Lansing between now and Feb. 25th for some romantic laughs with "The People vs. Friar Laurence, The Man Who Killed Romeo and Juliet". The Lansing State Journal's Entertainment Guide, The Hub, bills it as a farce that pokes fun of the classics, theater, TV and just about everything else you can think of.

If you're looking for fun a little farther north, Ski Cadillac reports plenty of good snow at Caberfae Peaks, and if you stay with them today, you can ski or snowboard for free!

This weekend the folks at Leelanau Peninsula Vintners Association are offering Taste the Passion/Snowshoe Stomp for an opportunity to taste some truly excellent Michigan wines and race thru the beautiful North Country on snowshoes. If beer's more your thing, Timber Ridge in Traverse City is offering their first annual Suds and Snow, a chance to sample some truly delicious Michigan microbrews.

For those who like a little science with their sweeties, consider that University of Michigan psychology researchers have found that natural chemicals in the brain's pleasure hot spots not only make people want to eat more sweets, they also make them taste better. In the interests of balance, take your Valentine's flower questions to FlowerMD and MSU Horticulture Professor Bridget Behe.
