Maggs Sportin' the Shades by MichSt
Today's Detroit News reports that the Tigers have five players on the American League All-Star team: starters Magglio Ordonez, Pudge Rodriguez and Placido Polanco and reserves Justin Verlander and Carlos Guillen. Jeremy Bonderman could make it six in online voting for the final spot, a feat not matched since the team landed 6 spots in 1984 & 1985.
Tiger catcher Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez (who will be making his 14th appearance and major-league record 12th start as a catcher) said:
We've got a lot of talent, and what you see this year you might see for years to come. It's different now, compared to last year. Everybody's watching you, so you have to keep working. But it's nice.
