For anyone not familiar with this scene, this setting takes place in Southeast Michigan, on the Detroit River... with the beautiful Windsor Ontario, Canada serving as backdrop. The Detroit International River Days event, sponsored by General Motors, commemorates the grand opening of the newly completed segment of the Detroit Riverwalk. The Riverwalk is expanding in its "Bridge to Bridge" plans of adding excitement to the water's edge of Detroit. Parks, festivals and entertainment, proficiently designed to amuse and delight even Uncle Scrooge, will "Rock" the city - from the Ambassador Bridge (our Gateway to Canada), to the Douglas MacArthur Bridge of Belle Isle Park... the largest city-owned park in the United States. This summer's travel and vacation plans need not budget around the high price of fuel. A few steps, and into the front-yard of Michigan - is "Destination Detroit"! Unless, of course, you live outside of the state of Michigan; in which case... it's worth the trip. ;) Incidentally - International event or otherwise, this photograph depicts the "everyday" aspect of life, on the steps of the GM Promenade, in front of the GM Renaissance Center on the Detroit River.
