This morning, practically as I watched, the photodometer on the Absolute Michigan pool on Flickr rolled over to 15,000.
The photo from Detroit International River Days maybe wasn't as dramatic as some of the others Connie (One Foot Over the Moon) added this morning (such as this one of the RenCen). It does however, showcase one of the great things about Connie's photography and that of other folks in group: they bring you real scenes of Michigan. It may not always be "pure", but it is absolutely and undeniably Michigan.
We're so grateful that they share their photos, and happy that we can share them with all of you.

Fantastic - And so glad to be a part of the Absolute Michigan group!
For anyone not familiar with this scene, this setting takes place in Southeast Michigan, on the Detroit River... with the beautiful Windsor Ontario, Canada serving as backdrop.
The Detroit International River Days event, sponsored by General Motors, commemorates the grand opening of the newly completed segment of the Detroit Riverwalk.
The Riverwalk is expanding in its "Bridge to Bridge" plans of adding excitement to the water's edge of Detroit. Parks, festivals and entertainment, proficiently designed to amuse and delight even Uncle Scrooge, will "Rock" the city - from the Ambassador Bridge (our Gateway to Canada), to the Douglas MacArthur Bridge of Belle Isle Park... the largest city-owned park in the United States.
This summer's travel and vacation plans need not budget around the high price of fuel. A few steps, and into the front-yard of Michigan - is "Destination Detroit"!
Unless, of course, you live outside of the state of Michigan; in which case... it's worth the trip.
Incidentally - International event or otherwise, this photograph depicts the "everyday" aspect of life, on the steps of the GM Promenade, in front of the GM Renaissance Center on the Detroit River.
Thanks Andy!
