Joanne writes: It is hard to top my photo I posted yesterday, but this is what I saw on my lunch hour walk. I walked in the Grand Woods nature trails in Lansing, Michigan. I saw this owl, actually two days in a row, but was able to get a photo today. She seemed to be in about the same area, so perhaps has eggs somewhere nearby.

Thanks for the great picture!! I was walking in Grand Woods park this morning (6/7/2007) and saw this owl. Your posting identified what type of owl it was for me. Thanks again.
Owls are early nesters, sitting on eggs in January or February, so there wouldn't have been an active nest nearby. Great shot! To get this close to an owl during the daytime and SEE it is truly fortunate.
