Michigan Says YES to Sulfide Mining Michigan regulators gave final approval Thursday to a nickel and copper mine for the Upper Peninsula, despite opponents' fears it would pollute streams that feed Lake Superior and provide habitat for a rare type of trout. The mine is a sulfide mine or acid mine and this will likely be the first of many in the Upper Peninsula.

The Christmas Tree Ships The Rouse Simmons was the most famous of the ships that carried Christmas trees to Chicago from Michigan's woods. Read about the Captain Schuenemann, and how his legacy was carried on by his daughter and granddaughters after the Simmons sank in sank in 1912. There's even a video from a dive on the wreck of the Simmons.
