February is Black History Month and the Archives of Michigan presents the photo and story of Samuel Lett. Lett served in the 102nd United States Colored Troops (102nd U.S.C.T.) during the Civil War. This regiment officially mustered into federal service in Michigan on February 17, 1864 -144 years ago this month!
