December Michigan Event Calendar
A sampling of Michigan festivals & events for the month of December. As usual, there's no way we'll get them all, so please add links and information about those we've missed (or reviews of ones we have here) in the comments section.

Green Monday: Slow currents and fast winds
A new device designed by scientists at the University of Michigan called the "Vivace" inspired by the way fish swim can generate power from very slow currents and we also look at the inevitability of offshore windmills in Michigan.

Photo Friday: StairWell by by chrisd1332
Grand Rapids photographer Chris DeBoer has some great work. Check it out in sets including At Night, Landscapes and My Personal Best (At least I think so).

We at Absolute Michigan hope that you have a chance to share good food, drink and fellowship with those you love over the Thanksgiving holiday. We'd also like to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all of you who contribute to Absolute Michigan with your photos, video, writing and presence. We are very grateful that you choose to share some of your time with us.

Wierd Wednesday: Michigan's Headless Chicken
File this month's Weird Wednesday under "Hopeful Stories for Turkeys".

Tossed Together Tuesday: Vanishing newspapers, clueless media, Michigan love and an arkfull of rain The title kind of says it all.

Boom, Bust, Bailout & Bankruptcy Monday The latest chapter in the ongoing soap opera that is the story of the bailout (or lack thereof) of US auto manufactures brings in such guest stars as former Clinton Treasury Secretary Robert Reich and former Michigan Senator & Transportation Secretary Spence Abraham to answer the of question of why we would bail out Citibank over the auto industry and what bankruptcy could mean for the Big Three.

Photo Friday: Detroit Skyline Sunrise by Jesse Speelman Jesse Speelman is a seventeen year old from the burbs of Detroit who got into photography two years ago. In addition to a lot of live and promotional photos for bands, he has some cool urban exploration shots including a set from the Roosevelt Warehouse which appears in the foreground of this photo and was originally the city of Detroit’s main post office.

First Annual Ohio vs Michigan Wine Clash You've heard of Bud Bowl, right? Well, panels of wine tasters in Ann Arbor and Columbus recently gathered to judge over 60 selected consumer-selected wines from Michigan and Ohio wineries (made with grapes exclusively from Michigan & Ohio vineyards too!). Click through to view the winners and please "Drink Local"!

Setting the Table Thursday: Chestnuts, Turkey & Michigan fixings (and football) Pull up a chair and sit down. Have they been feeding you? How about some nice chestnuts? And a plate of turkey? Some Detroit Lions? No? Well, no pie until you try a bite of everything!

A very Michigan Thanksgiving From turkey to Turkey Trots, parades to Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day football, Absolute Michigan has all the food and fun for America's original holiday.
