Michigan Wind Energy Zones & Windmills in the Water The latest on wind power, windmills and wind energy generation includes the identification of four wind energy zones in Michigan: the Thumb region (Huron County and portions of Bay, Saginaw, Sanilac, and Tuscola counties), Allegan County, portions of Antrim and Charlevoix counties and portions of Benzie, Leelanau and Manistee counties. Also news of an offshore wind energy test in Muskegon.

Winners of the 2009 Grand Rapids ArtPrize The first-ever ArtPrize in Grand Rapids has ended with Open Water no. 24, a 6' x 19' oil painting by Ran Ortner being chosen as the winner by public vote from 1,262 artists who exhibited at 157 venues across the city. Michigan History: Hollywood's First African-American Cowboy In the 1930s, when white singing cowboys like Gene Autry and Roy Rogers carved out names for themselves, Herb Jeffries decided there should be black cowboy films especially since there had been many African American cowboys in the American west. Playing the part of Bob Blake, he was the country's first African American film hero when Harlem on the Prairie opened.
